How do I change a Bitmap image into JPEG format?

I looked for pictures online and saved them to My Pictures. I'm trying to put the image on a page but it won't let me because it will only except the picture in a JPEG format. Please help...

You must not know you are violating copyright law. You do not have the rights to republish images you find on the Internet until you have contacted the copyright owner and get written permission.

It surprises me that others here would without a thought assist you in attempting to steal others work and use in on your own page.

whatever, I didn't like this answer, though I mostly agree with most of what you post. This answer is assuming everyone is out to steal your work, and I am left to assume you don't understand copyright laws that pertain to photography.

So long as no monitary gain is incurred, and provided that image even had a CC license that restricted such gain, there are no laws being broken. Besides, you can't assume that was even the case given the lack of details. Not all images found online are copyrighted anyway.

So, I didn't appreciate you putting everyone on blast because you assumed we're all copyright infringers. Next time maybe realize there is a bit more gray than black and white sometimes and perhaps the simplest explaination is ofthen the best.

Open it in Paintshop Pro or even just regular paint, and then go to save as, and when you resave it, just change the file extension type where it says %26quot;Save as type%26quot;
katy knows best
Open the .bmp file with MS paint [for simplicity] and simply save it as a .jpg by using the format, or save as type drop down menu and selecting .jpg or .jpeg and click save.
An excellent free image viewer and format converter is IrfanView. It supports many image formats.
