How do I change a picture from a .bmp to a jpig file?
Use a program like Photoshop to change the format.
rename the file to a .jpeg
open pic...file...save as....file type....click jpeg....save
u can rename it as %26quot;%26lt;filename%26gt;.jpg%26quot; or can open it in paintbrush or Photoshop and save the bmp files as %26quot;%26lt;filename%26gt;.jpg%26quot;.
Whoever told you to simply rename the file is talking out of their butt. This will only change the NAME of the file, not the format. If you rename a .bmp to .jpg then look at the file header in a hex editor, it will be obvious that nothing has changed....

You need to open the bitmap in Photoshop or something similar (GIMP is good and free http://www.gimp.org/ ) and then Save As... as a jpeg.

Try to ask questions in the correct category next time please.

Rawlyn.
if you are using Win2000 or WinXP just open your image file in Paint, then click on %26quot;File%26quot;, that's on the main menu, then click on %26quot;save as %26quot;, rename your file if you wish and then click on the %26quot;save as type%26quot; box for it will display the available formats, click on the %26quot;JPEG%26quot; one and finally click on %26quot;Save%26quot;. Does it works?
A great little tool is IrfanView
