How do you change the format for a movie I made?

I made the movie with windows movie maker using pictures I got off my camera. How do I change the format of the saved movie to rip on my dvd burner on my computer, to where I can watch the video on my home dvd's? I understand that a ripped dvd from my computer is a different format than my home dvd player. I just don't know how to change the format to make it viewable on my home dvd player.

no this is not true, both files are most likly mpeg2 unless you rip using cheap software which will make an avi. simple rename the file from .avi to .mp2 or download an avi-dvd converter for free online.

You need DVD burning software, like Sonic MyDVD. (I'm not sure it's free... it came with my computer) But any DVD burning software should have a built in converter. I found one that looks free....

find out what formats you can use and if this program can dconvert it use:

AVS Video Converter 6
all you need do is to download a video converter!

search for a free one in google...
what format is your movie now?

wmmm or wmv?

if it is wmmm, you need to publish it in WMM, then it will be wmv movie.

for you want to save it as dvd, you'd better convert the wmv movie to vob, then burn it to the dvd.

you can burn videos to DVD with DVD menu. First, use Leawo Video Converter(http://www.leawo.com/leawo-video-convert鈥?/a> to convet video to VOB, then use star burn (http://www.flash-video-mx.com/starburn/ ) to burn the VOB file to DVD.
You have to save your windows movie maker file as wmv video at first, then you can follow this step by step guide to convert and burn the wmv video to DVD for playback, it's easy to understand and works pretty well for me
