How do you change the format of a picture from JPG to JPEG?

They are the same. The Mac does not require extensions so it became standard to use the full abbreviation of JPEG. The PC originally required 3 character extensions so JPG was used. Now they are interchangeable.

A JPG and a JPEG are the same thing, just different spelling.

u can change it ... umm.. if you don't wanna get a new programe.. u can just use the Paint.. open with paint and then when it opens.. chose form File list Save as... and from there.. there is a box named in it every type of format.. and then u can choose what ever you want
There is no change. They are identical. files can be .jpg, or .jpeg, but .pjpg has become by far the most popular. (Back in the old school, DOS extensions could only have 3 characters...but Macs could have more. So Mac users thought it was cooler to name images with .jpeg.)
JPG and JPEG are both file extensions to indicate the same file format - which you can learn all about at http://www.jpeg.org/

If you insist on having a JPEG, go ahead and rename the file to end in jpeg instead of jpg. Most programs and operating systems should work with either one though.
Just rename it (command line or %26quot;right click%26quot; in %26quot;My computer%26quot;). If you *really want* to have a .jpg and a .jpeg file then open it in Paint-ShopPro or PhotoShop or some other program and %26quot;Save-as%26quot; the other. (Of course, both files will be identical unless you diddle with it before you %26quot;Save-as%26quot;...)
